Samuel “Sam” Dalton Vance, age 70, of Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Wellmont Hospice House.

He was born April 4, 1945 in Bristol, Va., a son of the late Claude Arvil and Anna Mae Vance.

Sam was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He had worked all over the country as a welder for Local Union 538. Sam also was owner and operator of Sam’s Discount Car Center. He was a member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Fox; brothers, George Arvil Vance and wife Jane, Charles Doug Vance; nieces, Valerie Seevers, Becky Arnold, Carol Gouge, Teresa Richardson and Tammy Fox; nephews, Tony Fox, Vincent Vance, Eric Vance, Charles Doug Vance Jr, and David Vance.

The funeral service for Mr. Vance will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Tyson officiating.

The committal service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Tibbs, Tony Meade, Denny Spangler, Ronnie Hale, Eddie Laster, Doug Fleenor, Johnny Leab, Grover Barker, Mike Arnold and Charlie Arnold.
