Rex was born the 29th of August 1948 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Doug and Betty Rogers. He grew up predominantly in Houston, Texas and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he earned his Bachelor's of Business Administration and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Rex's career in commercial real estate spanned 36 years, with the majority of this time working for Cushman & Wakefield where he managed the commercial real estate assets for a variety of clients, including financial institutions, trusts and pension funds, family-controlled companies, private investors, and most recently, the day-to-day transaction management for Service Corporation International (SCI), Shell Oil Company and Rental Services Corporation. Outside of his career, Rex sought out adventure by traveling the world, often times with his son Buck at his side, and most recently visited one of his favorite places, Nice, France. His love for animals was prevalent in his life, and he enjoyed taking leisurely walks with his basset hound, Jolie.
Rex was preceded in death by his father, Reginald Douglas Rogers, Jr. He is survived by his son, Reginald "Buck" Douglas Rogers, IV; his mother, Betty Thomas Rogers Cole and step-father, Eugene Cole; his sister, Patricia Rogers Svadlenak and brother-in-law, Wayne Svadlenak, all of Houston; his half-sister, Connie Rogers Ehrbar of Florida, as well as his nephew, Jeffrey Svadlenak and his wife, Elizabeth Svadlenak; and great-niece, Madelyn Svadlenak all of Dallas, Texas.
A memorial service is to be conducted at four o'clock in the afternoon on Friday the 28th of November in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive, in Houston.
