RED BAY, Alabama – Pearlie Oniece Smith, 83, died Sunday, November 29, 2015, at her residence. She was born in Red Bay, Alabama to Oscar Newell and Rosa Yielding Newell. She was a restaurant owner and attended Cornerstone Church of God in Red Bay.
Services will be today, Tuesday, December 1, at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God with Bro. Benjamin Young and Bro. Rick Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are seven children – James Johnson (Lora), Johnny Johnson (Linda), Bobby Smith, Jerry Smith and Eric Smith (Tonia), all of Golden, Ms.; Lisa Windham (Mitch) Tishomingo, Ms. and Rose Underwood (Terry) Dennis, Ms.; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters – Ann Starling and Mary Milam Anderson and one brother – Travis Newell.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Allen Smith, second husband, Albert Decanter, two children, Jackie Wayne Johnson and Brenda Gale Johnson and four brothers and sisters, Ellie Strickland, Nancy Stroupe, A.C. Newell and Jack Newell.
Pallbearers will be Brad Smith, Austin Smith, Clay Underwood, Donald Lee Raper, Daniel Humphries and Jonathan Smith.
