James Harold Fort, age 52, of Cross Plains, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Brother Gene Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with Christopher Graves, Randall Hesson, Lee Graves, Ronald Franklin, Richard Lee Fort and Michael Bailey serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10am until the hour of service at 1pm.

Mr. Fort was born May 25, 1963 in Springfield to the late Johnny William and Dorothy Louise Newman Fort.

In addition to his parents Mr. Fort is preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Fort. He is survived by his brothers, William (Judy) Fort of Cross Plains and Richard Lee (Jessica) Fort of KY; sisters, Linda Gail Fort of KY, Anita (Tony) McGregor of Greenbrier, Hattie (Raymond) Bugg of Springfield and Joyce Fort of Springfield; and his aunts, Wilma Heddings of Greenbrier and Jean Callis of Pleasant View.
