Donna DeLaney, age 61, of Odessa passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was born Sunday, July 22, 1945 to Earl E. Smith Jr. and Katy Winnelle (Sullivan) Smith. The lives of Donna and her mother, Winnelle Smith, were both cut short on Saturday as a result of a tragic car accident.
Known to many as "Grannie", Donna was a fun-loving person. She loved flowers and enjoyed working in the garden. She liked leg warmers and had a large collection of about 20 pair. She also enjoyed painting. She will be remembered as a colorful person.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are her husband: Charles DeLaney III of Odessa, her father: Earl Smith, Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, three sons: Joe Walker of Chico, TX, David Walker of Odessa and John Thomas DeLaney of Wisconsin; one daughter: Shannon Tarbox and husband, Timothy, of Odessa, one sister: Katy Winkley of Waldron, AK; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held for 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Jimenez officiating. Pallbearers included: Andrew Allen, Jared Tarbox, Bobby Walker, Steve Scrogum, David Walker, and Joe Walker. Honorary pallbearer will be James Glidwell. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel.
