German Empress Augusta Viktoria was the wife of the last German Emperor Wilhelm II. She was the daughter of Prince Friedrich Christian August von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg and Princess Adelheid Victoria Amalie Louise Maria Konstanze zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg. At the end of the first world war she fled with her husband into exile. She was born in Gut Dolzig and died of a heart attack in House Doorn in Doorn in the Netherlands. She never really came to terms with the collapse of the German monarchy in November 1918 and her subsequent loss of position. Her body was returned to Germany. She is buried in the Temple of Antiquities in the gardens near the New Palais, Postdam. A great many people turned out for her funeral to pay their respects. Her husband was unable to attend.
