William Wayne Hugen died on Monday, November 23, 2015, at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona after a prolonged cancer fight. He was 73 years old.

Wayne, the son of Wilbur Bert and Berneice Lorraine (Niemantsverdriet) Hugen, was born April 8, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Wayne graduated from Newton High School and Central College with a degree in Business Administration. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves.

On August 20, 1964, Wayne was united in marriage with Ruth A. Hiemstra at Trinity Church in Pella, Iowa.

Wayne was the play by play announcer for Central College football while he attended. He also had worked as the Vice-president for Scandia Savings and Loan, as a realtor for Randleman Realty, construction superintendent with First Construction, was owner of Four C's Collector's World and worked for DHL and Priority Express Delivery services. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, shuffle boarding and helping others including mission trips to Mexico and hurricane relief efforts. Wayne was president of the Iowa Shuffle Board Association. He was a member of the Jaycees, Rotary, Central Club, Chamber of Commerce, BPMI Club and HLM Investments.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers-in-law Harold Hiemstra, Alvin Hiemstra and Glen Hiemstra.

Those left to honor Wayne's memory include his wife, Ruth of Des Moines, Iowa; his sons, Scott (Robin) Hugen of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Matthew (Jill) Hugen of Ankeny, Iowa, Todd (Peggy) Hugen of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; his aunts, Leola Klein and Viola Vande Noord and his uncle, Steve Van Der Weele.
