John Susko, 86, 400 Coal St., Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, in St. Lukes Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.
Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Frank and Julia (Guzak) Susko.
He was employed as a budget analyst by PennDOT for 20 years, retiring in 1986.
John was corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp serving in North China and the United States during World War II.
He spent 18 years in the U.S. Diplomatic Foreign Service serving in Hong Kong, Turkey, Chile, Poland, and Austria.
He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Nesquehoning.
Surviving is a brother Andrew of New Jersey; a sister Helen Hardon of Baltimore, MD; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by brothers Peter, Michael, and Nicholas; and sisters Mary Hadnagy, Julia Bobita, and Ann Reed.
Service: will be held privately at the convenience of the family with Rev. Vasyl Chepelskyy officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Nesquehoning. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, is in charge of arrangements.
