Harold was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Harold D. and Marguerite Brooks Black. He graduated from Byrd High School in 1968 and Northeast University (ULM), Monroe, LA, Class of 1973. Harold joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves, Barksdale AFB where he enjoyed a 24 year career before retiring as First Sergeant of the 47th Fighter Squadron. Harold also enjoyed a long and successful career in Sales and Marketing which began at Poulan Chain Saw Company in Shreveport where he gave 22+ years and met his future wife of 26 years, Michele.
After marrying in 1989, Harold and Michele resided in Shreveport, until Harold’s career took them to Allen, Texas, in 1995. His passion and love for the outdoors allowed him to finish his career with fine companies such as Gerber Legendary Blades and GSM Outdoors where he was afforded the opportunity to do what he loved, work with wonderful people and experience hunting and fishing trips all around the country.
Harold’s other passion was baseball, where he spent countless hours on the field as a player in his younger years, to coaching young boys, to watching his son go on to play ball at the professional level.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold D. Black.
Survivors include his wife, Michele; son, Taylor, both of Allen, TX; daughter, Stephanie McKenzie; granddaughter, Kaitlynn McKenzie; mother, Marguerite, of Shreveport, LA; sister, Carol Black; and nieces: Dawn Dunn, Sara Gonsoulin, and Shelly Gonsoulin, all of Shreveport, LA. P20
