Enlisted in Battery T, First Artillery, Eleventh Vermont Volunteers, first as corporal and served until his death on November 17, 1864. He did honorable service in many skirmishes and battles and finally on October 19, 1864, he was wounded at the battle of Cedar Creek and died a little later as stated.
