Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Illiopolis, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials: American Cancer Society or Illiopolis Ambulance Fund.
Mr. Patterson was born in rural Niantic, son of Earl E. and Bessie Ellen Patterson. He was semi-retired from Illiopolis Grain Co., was an Illiopolis water superintendent, a former Illiopolis Village Board member and a former fire chief and served on the Ambulance Board of Directors. He was a World War II Air Force veteran and a member of Illiopolis American Legion 508. He married Verda Young in 1942.
Surviving are his wife; son Kevin of Illiopolis; daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Sharon) Bobbitt of Madison, Mo.; Mrs. James (Connie) Underwood of Princeton; Mrs. William (Pamela) Brown of Hudson; brothers, Russell and Robert, both of Decatur; John of Niantic; Virgil of Dade City, Fla; sisters, Thelma Whiteside of Niantic; Mrs. Howard (Ida) Cochran and Mrs. Bernard (Joan) Johnson, both of Decatur; Mrs. Betty Murray of Osage Beach, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
