Betty Jo Trent, 87 of Gray, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Preston Place II. Born on May 27, 1928, she lived almost her entire life in Kingsport.
She worked at Mason-Dixon Trucking Lines and left there to pursue a degree in nursing. She worked at Indian Path Medical Center in Cardiac Care for several years, leaving to become a sales representative for Med-Derm Pharmaceuticals. After retirement, she enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity building houses, making baskets, re-doing cane bottom chairs, woodworking, gardening and reading. She was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Robert Trent, Sr.; her father, Delmer Epps and mother Hortense Bentley Epps Walker; sisters, Louise Godsey and Patsy Glenn; brother, Robert “Bob” Epps and step-father, Frank Walker; son-in-law, Donald Kilday.
Betty Jo is survived by her daughter, Lorene Kilday; son, Roy Robert Trent, Jr. (Jane) all of Kingsport; 3 grandchildren, Stacie Torbett (Hanes), Stephanie Blackston (Tim) and Summer Lawson (Jason); 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Burial will follow in East TN Cemetery in Blountville. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
