He was the second of five known children of William West Sr. and Elizabeth Carling.
He immigrated to Middlesex County in the 1840s and settled on a farm there on the north half of Lot 23, Con. 8 in London Twp.
He married his first cousin, Christina Beverley of Con. 5, London Twp. on Dec.15, 1845.
They had 13 children.
(1) John (1846-1925) married first
Alicia Cranston and second Mrs. Annie
(Gordon) Smylie. He had five children
in total.

(2) Elizabeth (1847-1897)
unmarried

(3) George (1849-1935)
unmarried

(4) Ann (1851-1939) married William Priest
Fuller and had seven children.

(5) Edward Beverley (1853-1931) married
Cordelia Martha Gregory and had four
children.

(6) William Jr. (1855-1941) married
Jane Loft. No children. Both buried in
St.John's Cemetery Arva (no tombstones).

(7) Hannah Mary (1858-1949) married first
Joseph Briggs and had two children. Her
second husband was James Maynes. They
had a daughter.

(8) Christina (1860-1948) married George
F. Mitchell and had three sons with him
but no grandchildren.

(9) Charlotte Martha (1862-1952) married
Thomas Morrow. No children.

(10)Alfred (1864-1939) married Jennie
Edwards and had two daughters.

(11)Peter (1866-1939) married Nancy
Adeline Patrick and had two children.

William George Taylor and had four
children.

George L. Hobbs and had two children.
