Stephen Neil “Steve” Cunningham

Stephen Neil “Steve” Cunningham was born in Beloit, Kansas on January 30th, 1949 to Joseph and Gladys Cunningham. He went to be with our Lord on November 22nd, 2015 at the age of 66.

Steve is an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War in which he served as an Aviation Mechanic on AC-130 “Spectre” Gunships. He also served in the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard following his active duty. He started his civilian career as an aircraft mechanic for Texas International and then at Continental Airlines. He worked his way up from a line mechanic to eventually serving as Director of Engineering at Continental. Steve had a keen interest in aviation and was highly dedicated to improving airline safety during his 36 year career. Steve retired in 2015 and managed his Charter Fishing Company, Bahia-Mar Charters & Outfitters, LLC.
In his free time, Steve was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for bird hunting and offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He spent many years as a waterfowl hunting guide, passing his passion on to others. Having a deep reverence for God’s nature and wildlife, even when Steve was not out in the field, he always had his eyes on the horizon, looking for a flock of geese or a hawk on the chase.

Steve is survived by his children, Peter and Teresa Cunningham, his sister, Sondra Murphy and his grandchildren, Haakon and Kayleigh.

His Life will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 at Moody Methodist Church. Services will begin at 3:45 p.m. with doors opening at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his honor to Moody Methodist.
