Ramona was born on February 18, 1930, at Hazel, SD, to Edwin and Cletus (Schaeffer) Robish. She graduated from Hazel High School in 1948.

On September 11, 1949, Ramona married Kenneth Ascher at Hazel, SD. The couple lived in Hazel until 1959 when they moved to Hitchcock, SD, where Kenny worked on the railroad. In 1969, Ramona moved to Watertown and worked at the Regal Café as a cook. She sold Stanley Home Products in 1970 until the time of her passing. In 1976, Ramona took a full time position as baker/cook at Prairie Lakes Healthcare System, formerly known as St. Ann’s Hospital. She retired in 1996.

She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Watertown and during the past 18 months, she had been a supporter of the Bridge Church of the Christian & Missionary Alliance. Ramona’s love for Jesus began when she accepted Him as her Savior when her mother passed when she was only five years old. Ever since that time, she wanted to live a Christ-like life to see her mom again one day. Working with children was the joy of her life. She taught and hosted ‘5 Day’ clubs and was a great supporter of Child Evangelism Fellowship. Throughout the years, Ramona taught hundreds of children at church and in her home. She especially loved organizing object lessons and teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ramona also enjoyed working with flowers, baking and most recently crocheting.

Ramona is survived by her six children: Lavonne (Terry) Binger of Clark, SD, Marlene (Jim) Puffer of Hitchcock, SD, Kerry (Beth) Ascher of Terre Haute, IN, Terry (Deb) Ascher of Pierre, SD, Michelle (Owen) Gross of Carpenter, SD, and Tammy (Rick) Jackson of Tarpon Springs, FL; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Ila Mae (Walt) Luken of Hazel, SD, and Margaret Gjerde of Watertown, SD.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Kenny; her parents; two brothers, Wesley Robish and Maynard Robish; and one sister, Phyllis Bocheck.

Memorials, in Ramona’s honor, may be directed to Child Evangelism Fellowship - P.O. Box 348, Warrenton, MO, 63383-0348 or to the Bridge Church - 810 10th Ave. SE, Watertown, SD, 57201.
