Grace was born August 21, 1918 in Manitowoc, WI to Albert and Anna (Foochil) Queram.
After graduating from Manitowoc High School in 1936, she attended and graduated from Sloan Kettering School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career as a Pediatric Nurse at Chicago Children’s Hospital.
She met Martin Sparks, and they married June 16, 1945 in Chicago, IL. To this union were born; Grant and Greg
They relocated to Honolulu, HI where she worked as a pediatric nurse. Following Martin’s discharge from the Navy, they moved to Denver, CO where Grace did private duty nursing. Grace and Martin moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 1950.
During her nursing career in Scottsbluff, Grace was the Director of Nursing at West Nebraska Methodist Hospital. Grace and her husband Martin built the first nursing home in Western Nebraska, Gra-Mar Manor, where she was Director of Nursing. After selling Gra-Mar, Grace continued to work as a hospital nurse at Regional West until retiring in the early 1980’s.
Grace was a caring wife to her husband, loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was a mentor to many young people choosing Nursing as a profession and was remembered frequently by those she had employed at West Nebraska General and Gra-mar Manor.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Martin, sister Edith (Petie) Gloe brothers Russell Queram and John Queram and her parents.
