Ruth graduated from Pen Argyl High School and Churchman's Business School. She worked as a seamstress for Valerie Fashions before retiring.
She was a member of Hope UCC in Wind Gap, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years and was active in "My Brother's Keeper" Group, sewing material into warm sleeping bags for the homeless. She also spent countless hours crafting pillow cases into beautiful dresses for little girls in Africa and Haiti. Ruth shared her knowledge of sewing by teaching Adult Education classes as well as 4-H Groups for many years, and was also known to be a dedicated potato peeler for the church suppers.
Ruth is survived by one son, David Anschau and his wife, Vicki, of Scotrun, PA; two daughters, Desiree Anschau of Hawaii, and Denise Trite and husband Randy of Blandon, PA; two grandchildren, Adam and Megan Trite; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in Hope UCC, 701 Cherry St. Wind Gap. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm with Pastor Darlene Blocker presiding. Ruth will be laid to rest in Wind Gap Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home PC, Wind Gap.
