Phyllis was born December 31, 1928 in Cavalier North Dakota, the daughter of Clark and Lena (Sutterlin) Brown.
She attended and graduated from Cavalier High School in May 1946. She furthered her education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in May 1950. While there, Phyllis was an active member at the Delta Gamma sorority. She was united in marriage to Harold Rowe on August 20, 1950 in Cavalier. Their early life together took them from Dilworth MN, to Waldorf MN, to Akeley MN. The couple eventually made their home in Medford. Phyllis was a dedicated housewife for many years and also worked at the Medford School District, and Gallea Transfer & Storage. Her retirement lead her not only into Owatonna, but into Owatonna as a tireless volunteer. Phyllis volunteered at the Owatonna Hospital and Auxiliary, Steele County Historical Society, was extremely involved in the Homestead Hospice House, she volunteered for many years at the old Pink Pantry Gift Shop, Meals on Wheels, The Star of Hope and others too numerous to count. Her roles varied from volunteering, to committee and board positions. Socially, she spent countless hours playing bridge with her various groups, enjoying coffee with her many friends, and being a friend to those in most need. She was involved in her church, Associated Church, and she had an unwavering support for her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons Scott (and Dawn) Rowe of Sacramento CA; Kelly (and Ann Marie) Rowe of Austin TX; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Rowe in January 1988; and her parents.
