Decatur-Sherry Ann (Lucas) Walters, 64, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Decatur, Illinois.
Sherry was born June 21, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Cleo (Shire) Lucas. She attended Roach Grade School, Johns Hill Junior High School and Eisenhower High School. Sherry was previously employed as a quality control engineer with Caterpillar Inc. retiring after thirty years of service. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Her faith was a big part of her life, and continued to grow throughout her years. Sherry enjoyed her friends, playing golf, and especially attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
She married Gary M. Walters on March 3, 1978.
Surviving is her husband Gary of Decatur, sons Mike (Nancy) Eller of Oreana, and Tom (Shannon) Eller of Heyworth, sister Florence Coombes of Decatur, brothers Ted (Karen) Lucas of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Terry (Linda) Lucas of Mt. Zion, stepdaughter Diane (Juan) Nunez of Boca Raton, Florida, stepson Jeffrey (Shawnee) Walters of Sacramento, California, grandchildren Gage and Madyson Eller of Oreana and Tate, Tazden, and Trenton Eller of Heyworth, Step-grandchildren Tristan and Dillian Nunez of Boca Raton, Florida, Jeffrey (Maryellen) Walters Jr. of Rancho Palas Verdes, California, and Haley and Evan Walters of Sacramento, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services to celebrate Sherry's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 North Oakland Avenue, Decatur, with Pastors Bill and Brock About officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or Homeward Bound.
