Clarence E. Free, age 89, formerly of 1325 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc, and currently a resident of the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, died early Sunday morning, April 6, 2008, at the Aurora Health Care Center of Manitowoc County.

Clarence was born July 20, 1918, in the town of Liberty, son of the late Louis and Mary Selle Free. He attended local schools. On Oct. 15, 1938, Clarence was married to Elmira A. Karstaedt at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Cleveland. The couple farmed in the town of Liberty moving to Manitowoc in 1966. Clarence retired from Hamilton Industries in 1980. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by on son, Allen Free; one daughter, Phyllis Free; one son-in-law, Phillip S. Woyciehosky Jr.; and three brothers. (Survivors omitted for privacy.)

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Miller will officiate with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 310 Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Free family.
