Dr. Richard (Dick) Pitcock, 79, of Friendship Village of South Hills, Upper St. Clair, PA; formerly of Peters Twp. and Waynesburg, peacefully passed on Tuesday, January 16, at 2:30 p.m. with his loving family at his side.

He was born May 22, 1938, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, PA.; son of Mary Ankrom Pitcock and Charles E. Pitcock.

Dick grew up in Dotysburg and attended East Franklin Elementary and Waynesburg High School, graduating class of '56. He lettered in baseball 4 years, made straight A's and never missed a day of school and also played baseball at Waynesburg College, where later he was a member of the alumni board. He attended Morrisville Methodist Church. After graduating from Waynesburg College, he was hired as a mathematics teacher and baseball coach at Woodbury Sr. H.S. Woodbury, NJ in 1961 and in 1965, was hired by the Mt. Lebanon School District as a high school mathematics teacher and baseball coach. Dr. Pitcock received his Master’s Degree from University of Pittsburgh and his Doctorate Degree from West Virginia University in 1989. His career at Mt. Lebanon included high school principal, Director of Personnel, and he was Assistant Superintendent when he retired in 1998. Dick's hobbies were hunting, fishing, golf, playing church league summer softball and even had a tryout for the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends at Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Deep Creek, Oglebay Resort and Florida. Dick was a member of the Mantua Lodge No. 95 F. & A.M. of Mantua, Gloucester County of New Jersey and Shriners International Organization, St. Clair Royal Arch Chapter No. 300, Pittsburgh, PA. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, PA. Dick was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife, Jo Ann, whom he married on Dec. 28, 1961 in the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ruff Creek; and they just celebrated 56 wonderful years together. He was a loving and caring father to daughters Leslie Jo Webb (Tom), and Tricia Ann Fee (David); grandfather to four adoring grandchildren: Katherine and Charlie Aber, and Claire and Kyle Fee who always made him smile. Dick had a special place in his heart for his brother, Allen and wife Linda along with his niece Amy (Rick) Schroeder and nephew Scott (Diane) Pitcock. Deceased is his sister, Clara Louise Pitcock who passed in November of 2016. Dick's philosophy in life was "Always treat people like you would want to be treated" and he stayed true to this belief all his life.

Friends will be received from 3 to 5 pm, and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, in the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Cindy McClung officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. Also a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Friendship Village of South Hills, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241, with the Rev. Dr. Cindy McClung officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Children's Therapy Center of Washington Hospital, 1000 Waterdam Plaza Drive, Suite 120, McMurray, PA 15317 (http://www.washingtonhospital.org/services/childtherapy/) or the Team Member Appreciation Fund of Friendship Village of South Hills, 1290 Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241-3999. The F & AM Masonic Lodge #153, Waynesburg will hold a memorial service on Friday in the funeral home at 6:00 p.m.
