JOHN START b. in Topsfield, Mass., Feb. 12, 1751. John m. Jane Emery, daughter of Daniel Emery of Jeffrey, N.H., about 1778. She died before 1824, and he probably died in Temple N.H. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, a member of Capt. Ezra Towne’s Company. Served at Cambridge, Boston and Charlestown, was near General Warren when he fell.
