The parents of the Scott children were William Scott, born in New York and Alice F Boardman born in California. They both died while their children, Stella, William and Mary were very young. These children were raised by the parent's of their mother Alice, Cassius and Mary Boardman who were pioneers that settled in Yuba County, farming in the West Bear River area for many years. The 1910 Bear River Township, Yuba County census shows that they raised their seven children plus the Scott grandchildren. Their grandmother Mary was blind, she had been blind since the age of three according to the book; Peddles in the stream; a history of Beale Air Force Base and neighboring areas., by Peggy Bal on page 52.where she tells about some of the families that lived in the area where the base was formed.
