Theresa Cirita (Barnett) Cox passed away on March 12, 2010, at the St. Francis Hospital, in Charleston, WV. She was born on August 27, 1921, in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of Feagin Barnett and Evie Lee (Green) Barnett Douglas.

Theresa was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church for 71 years, where she served as church deaconess, as well as church clerk for more than 21 years.

She was retired from the city of Clarksburg as a librarian. She was a member of the Shen Yu Thrifty Club and the Clarksburg Harrison County Housing Authority.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Briscoe Cox, Sr.; two sons, Richard Henry and Alexander Briscoe Cox, Jr.; five brothers, Justus Winfred, Cliton, Richard Causby, Robert Franklin, and James Edward Barnett; and three sisters, Juanita Stewart, Annie Mary Daniel, and Mattie Lee Kidd.

She is survived by two sons, Clifton Taylor, and Martin Elliott (Ruth) Cox; four daughters, Rita Cox (Kenneth) Muckala, Rachael Cox, Cynthia (Thaddeus) Law, Constance (Henry) Stewart; 27 grandchildren, Richard, Nathan, Tom Martin, Traci, Jason, Josh, Arica, Sara, Kip, William, Heather, David, Alaina, Alysse, Thaddeus, Channing, Kellan, Kristen, Kameron, Quinn, Elliott, Jeremy, Jocelyn, Jennifer, Ryan, and Theresa; one sister, Augustine Lavonda Geoghagen; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family.

Friends received at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, Nutter Fort, WV. Funeral service held at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksburg, WV. Interment in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV.
