Mary was a graduate of Genoa High School. On August 7, 1948 she married Howard Ackerman in Genoa, he preceded her in death on November 4, 1988. Mary worked as shipping clerk retiring from Lear Corporation at the age of 72.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, playing cards and jigsaw puzzles. She looked forward to harvesting her Golden Delicious Apples and English Walnuts every fall. She shared the tradition and harvest with her family, her number one priority and earned the nicknames "Grandma Apples" and "Farmer Grandma" from her great- grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Sharon (Tom) Bringman of Lambertville, MI, Helen (Fred) Smith of Fremont, OH, Chuck (Lisa) Ackerman of Toledo, OH, Mike (Mary) Ackerman of Fremont, IN, Rich (Teresa) Ackerman of Paradise, MI, Diane Birchard of Westlake, OH; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie Cox of Dayton, OH, Millie Fetzer of Jacksonville, FL, Virginia Gilles of Genoa, OH.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sisters, Bernadette Macrae and Frances Harris.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 3-7P.M. at Keller-Koch- Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, OH, where Rosary Services will begin at 7:00PM. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:30AM on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church where additional visitation will begin at 9:45A.M. The Rev. Michael Zacharias will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
