Son of Fauntleroy Dye and Elizabeth Young; he had the following siblings: Mary Polly; Rama Dye (buried at Ben Dye Cem., Grayson Co., TX); Sara Bathena, Mildred, Bacnen, James, Lucinda, Fauntleroy Jr. and Rachel Dye.

Jacob married on 25 Nov 1841 in Monroe Co., MO, (1) Margaret/Margrette Bradley b. abt 1822, the daughter of Benjamin Bradley.

They had the following children: Benjamin R., Francis Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Jeremiah, Nancy J., Permelia Louise, James Washington, Jacob C., and Lucinda Emily Dye.

He married (2) Susannah Dennen and had a son Jesse M. Dye b. Aug 1869.
