Architect. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1879, then worked in New York City until 1882. He worked in St. Paul, Minn. 1882-1893, then in Philadelphia, 1893-1897. He was supervising architect of the U. S. Department of the Treasury for federal buildings constructed between 1897 and 1912. After federal service he was on the MIT faculty 1912-1914, then he practiced in Yonkers, N.Y. and Philadelphia until 1928 when he retired to Tampa, Florida.
He was the son of Herman Knox and Mary Knox nee Young. He married Adele Chambers from Philadelphia.
Age 72, burial date Sep 3, 1929 (source: Parish Register, Grace Episcopal Church, Mount Airy (Philadelphia), Pa., page 451). He was survived by his sister Katherine Knox Porterfield and his wife's sister Frances Emory.
