Rex was born May 28, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of John R. and Shirley Yokom Martin.
Rex worked at Trinity Industries for 22 years as a fitter. He was a 1972 graduate of Girard High School and a member of Twin State Auto Racing Club. Rex was a lifelong racer with a passion for designing and building race cars. He enjoyed success as a driver and fabricator on many levels in everything from stock cars to racing karts.
Besides his mother, Shirley of Girard, he leaves his son, Tobias L. Martin of Girard; sister Cheryl L. Whorley of Girard; and his grandchildren, Abby, Ryan, Emily and Mackenzie.
He was preceded in death by his father, and brother William Martin.
Rex will be laid to rest at Greenhaven Cemetery.
