Mrs. C.K. Bower Buried Here
Funeral of Former Ord Resident Held on Sunday Morning and Interment Made Here

These columns recorded last week the news that Mrs. C. K. Bower had died suddenly at San Diego, Cal., but were unable at that time to give further particulars.
The arrival of her daughter, Sidney, however, reveals to the anxious relatives and friends the circumstances of the sad event.
She had been slightly indisposed for a few days, but not really sick. She retired as usual Monday night of last week with no evidences of being ill. In the morning when her daughter entered her room she found her dead. Some weakness of the heart must have been the cause. When found she was lying in perfect repose as though peacefully sleeping.
Mr. Bower, who is in feeble health, was dazed by the terrible news, and the burden of making preparations to bring the body to Ord fell chiefly on Sidney.
Jessie A. Tracy was born in Clark county, Iowa, March 20, 1858. She came to Valley county in 1876, and lived here until last summer when she moved to San Diego with her family. She was a teacher of our county for years and of course was among the early pioneers.
On March 20, 1883, she was married to C. K. Bower and helped him build up a fine farm home in Mira Valley, and was an active worker in the Vinton church.
Two children were born to them. Sidney survives her mother, but Rolland E., who was born in 1893, died before he was a year old.
Mr. Bower, on account of his health, was unable to accompany the remains of his companion to Ord. The unexpected death of the good woman is a great shock to him and all the family. Sidney will remain for a few days before returning to her father.
