Rena Marie Coen died during the Dust Bowl due to complications from inhaling too much dust during her short life time. Her story was featured on the show "Black Blizzard" on the history channel. She had 6 older brothers and a twin brother. Her parents were desperate for a girl, so when she was born her parents and brothers all doted over her. They were all devastated when she died from what they called the "Dust Pneumonia".

Rena Marie's death is also discussed by her brother in Ken Burn's "The Dust Bowl". Several weeks after her death the Coen's first grandchild, Dwayne (son of Verl) died. A total of 31 people (out of a total population of 4,092) died of "dust pneumonia" in Morton County. Very sad.
