Barbara Robinson McNeill age 81, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.
A native of McDowell County, Barbara was born July 31, 1934 to the late Ralph Amos and Lucy Burleson Robinson.
Barbara attended Knoxville Business School, then went on to work for American Thread Company, and later for the family business, Marion Machine Company. She was a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church and often volunteered with MACA.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. McNeill.
Surviving Barbara are her three children, Lynn M. Caldwell and husband Wilson of Hickory, Joe McNeill and wife Mary of Marion, and Chris M. Carroll and husband Tom of Longwood, FL. Also surviving are six siblings, Ralph “Bud” Robinson, Joyce Smith, Harold Robinson, Jerry Robinson, Sarah Robinson, and Sandra Johnson; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 at 11:00AM at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
