Don Maxwell, age 77 of Russellville, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at his home. A son of the late Robert Homer and Goldie Rhea Venable Maxwell, he was born March 14, 1929 in Atkins. He owned and operated the first Tastee Freeze in Russellville, as well as a grocery store/service station/trailer park in London. He owned the Redwood Inn and Catfish Plantation, was a former sales representative for Sugar Creek Foods in Russellville, an employee of the Pope County Sheriff's Office and was the manager of the City Mall. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stan Maxwell. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Ina Maxwell; a daughter-in-law, Scharlette Maxwell of Russellville; a sister, Joella Hines of Russellville; a grandson, Jeremy Wayne Maxwell of Russellville; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted by Shinn Funeral Service at 2 P.M., on Friday at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Sheriff Jay Winters, the Rev. Alan Bradley and the Rev. Paul Northcut will officiate. Burial honors will be provided by the Pope County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard.
