Mildred was born July 13, 1918 in Portland, IN, to Mary and Galen Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harold L. Reeves, and one daughter, Norma (Allen) Hayes.
She is survived by her current husband of 35 years, Rollin V. Lounsbury; one brother, Rev. Elvin Miller of Ft. Wayne; two daughters, Judith (Ned) Emshwiller of Muncie, and Mary Alice Austin; one stepdaughter, Diana Kay (Ted) Luzadder; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and six step great-grandchildren.
Mildred graduated from Portland High School and received both her bachelor's and her master's degree in Home Economics at Ball State Teacher's College. Mildred started her teaching career at Selma Schools then moved to Muncie Community Schools first as a nutrition teacher teaching in all Muncie Elementary Schools, then as a family and consumer science teacher teaching at Wilson Junior High School. Mildred retired from this position in 1981 when she married Rollin Lounsbury and traveled throughout the country together visiting all but Hawaii and Rhode Island. Rollin and Mildred were avid baseball fans and were able to attend major league games in almost all of those states. The couple settled back in Muncie in 2010, living first in their RV, then at The Lynd House,and finally for the past two years at Westminster Village.
Mildred will be buried at Elm Ridge Cemetery after a private funeral service on Friday.
