Anna Charlene Holmes also known as Granny to so many who loved her went to be with Jesus on Oct. 3, 2015. She was born on Nov. 26, 1942, to Francis Elizabeth and Wesley Melvin Drake. She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Hines; son-in-law, Aubrey Hines and two grandkids, Nick and Abbigail Hines, who she loved dearly; one brother, Clifford Ray Drake and his wife, Patsy and lots of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Drake; and sisters, Latricia Holmes and Sondra Campbell. Charlene had many jobs in her life but her favorite job was caring for children. She loved being a mother and grandmother as well as an aunt and granny to many. She volunteered as a Foster grandparent for over 11 years and helped care for her grandchildren after school growing up and her great-niece and nephew who she would always say were her heart. She had many friends whom she loved and she treated all of their children as her own as well. She knew what mattered in life and that was God, her family and friends. Granny/Mom/Aunt Charlene and Rene will be missed every day! Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 6th at 10 a.m. with visitation on Monday prior from 5 to 7 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. Our thanks go out to all of those who love her and us, along with the many doctors, nurses and aides who cared for her including Gentiva Hospice, Interim Healthcare, Trustpoint Rehab, Texas Specialty, UMC and Carillon. We were blessed by many who took care of her and us. Condolences and online guestbook can be found at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
