ROACH, Patricia Wemyss, 90, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Alexandria and Warrenton, Va., died on November 23, 2015. She was born on May 30, 1925 to Lucille Bayol Wemyss and James Cameron Wemyss. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Henry Keeling Roach; and her sister, Lucille Adele Wemyss, who died at age one.

After graduating from St. Mary's School in Alexandria, Patsy moved to New York to work as a model for the John Robert Powers Agency. During World War II she returned to Alexandria to work as an inspector in the Torpedo Factory and wrote a column for the Alexandria Gazette. She and her husband moved to a number of locations before settling in Warrenton to raise a family. During this time, Patsy opened a women's clothing store, Cross Country Casuals, with locations in Middleburg and Warrenton. Later, Patsy and Henry moved to "Retreat" in Aylett, where they lived until Henry's death. She was a member of many genealogical and historical societies, including Daughters of the American Revolution, The Colonial Dames of America, Daughters of Colonial Wars and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a devoted member of All Saints Anglican Church in Saluda, Va. Patsy was known for her beauty, wit and her love for all of God's creatures. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Millers Tavern. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local humane society or SPCA.
