Died on Jul. 22, 2006 and resided in McMinnville, OR.
Son of Eugene and Anna Wykle Kennedy, Alex was born January 12, 1917 in Arma, KS. He grew up in Girard, Kansas and after High School joined the WCC working in Wyoming. He then moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked as a Leather craftsman and a tool setter while attending college. In 1943 his college was interrupted when he joined the US Navy where he served as a Torpedo's mate during WW ll. On March 7, 1943 Alex married Margaret Buckley in Denver, Colorado. From 1946 till 1950 Alex worked as a Carpenter Supervisor in the US Civil Service. In 1950 he moved to Ft. Collins, Colorado where he completed his schooling, earnings his Masters Degree in Education. Alex's first teaching job was a Shop Teacher at the High School in Henderson, Nevada. His career led him from Nevada to Oregon, where he spent many years in Roseburg and then Portland as Supervisor of Trade and Industrial Education. Then teaching at Community Colleges in Creston and Counsil Bluffs, IA as Dean of Vocational Education. He spent his final years in McMinnville, Oregon. Alex enjoyed fishing, carpentry and bridge. As a Duplicate Bridge player, he earned recognition as a Lifetime Grand Master. His greatest love was old time country music. He acquired an extensive collection of records, met many old time country music artists and fans, and became friends with all. He shared his music collection with people all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 2003, and by three brothers, George, Pat and Elmer.
