Samuel E. Tyler, 72 of Northeast, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2006 at the Perry Point VA Hospital in Perryville. He was born on December 1, 1933 at Hoopersville, and was a son of the late Oliver and Ella Virginia Ashton Tyler. He attended schools at Hoopersville and had served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and later served in the Merchant Marine for 14 years. For a number of years he lived at the Castle Haven Farm where he worked in maintenance. Most recently he had worked as a bartender at Madison Bay. He enjoyed following the Baltimore Orioles as well as fishing and crabbing. Mr. Tyler suffered a stroke several years ago and had been living in a group home at Northeast for the past five years. He had been a patient at the Perry Point VA Hospital since March where he passed away on Tuesday morning. Survivors include a sister Barbara R. Mowbray and her husband Buddy Mowbray of Cambridge, three brothers Robert G. Rhea and his wife Mary Jane Rhea of Laurel, Delaware, Daniel W. Tyler and his wife Betty Tyler of Ocean Springs, Miss. and David W. Tyler and his wife Cora Tyler of Hoopersville. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. A funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday during the hour preceding the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, C/O Mr. Les Hutton, 5409 Mallard Lane, Cambridge, MD 216132. Pallbearers will be Buddy Mowbray, Bobby Rhea, Frank Willey, David Frazier, Mike Bradley and Steve Hynson.
