Michelene Aquino, 63, of Georgia Street, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at home.
Visitation will be held from 9 am to 5 pm on Monday (Nov. 30) at West Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Graveside service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Mikie's Uncle, Larry Asbury of Oasis Christian Fellowship will officiate.
Michelene Aquino better known as “Mikie” was born in Smithers, West Virginia on September 17, 1952 to Jesse and Gloria (Asbury) Aquino. The family moved to New Mexico in the 60’s and Mikie graduated from CHS in 1970.
She worked at Sunset Package, Allsups and as a substitute Teacher for Carlsbad Schools. She was currently working at Happy’s Restaurant.
Mikie was an outgoing, kind hearted woman who loved to laugh and joke. She made friends everywhere she went.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mikie leaves behind her son James Ray Aquino, who was the most important person in her life since the day he was born; 3 grandsons: Geric, Walter and Danzig, all of Carlsbad; 2 sisters: Belinda Jones and Debbie Aquino; 5 nieces and nephews: Tray, Cherie, Deana, Justin and Aimee; 9 great-nieces and nephews; 2 great-great nieces and 1 on the way as well as numerous cousins and extended family members and a countless number of friends.
