Mrs. Katherine M. Sweet, 88, a resident of Octavia Manor in Colfax, died at 2 am Sunday at the Gibson Community Hospital in Gibson City where she had been a patient since Aug. 23.

Her funeral will be at 11am Tuesday at the Colfax Christian Church with the Rev. Corson O'Brian officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm today at the Colfax Home for Funerals.

She was born April 12, 1884, in rural Colfax, a daughter of Henry and Jessie Remmers Heins. She attended rural Colfax schools. She was married to Charles Henry Sweet in Bloomington Feb. 23, 1905. He died June 18, 1950. They farmed near Colfax until moving to Colfax in 1945.

Surviving are a son, Ralph, Colfax; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Morefield, Colfax and Mrs. Lila Helmers, Anchor; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Wiley, Colfax; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters in addition to her husband.

Memorials may be made to the church and the Octavia Manor Nursing Home.
