Ruth Mitchell passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born March 3, 1920 in Smith County Texas to the late Earl Brown and Olive Warner Brown. Ruth was a lifetime resident of this area and attended the 5th Street Presbyterian Church in Tyler. She loved owls, cardinals and strawberries. Ruth enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and fishing, as well as being an extraordinary quilter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Douglas Mitchell and husband of 60 years, Robert F. Mitchell.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Nickerson & husband Steve of Troup; son, Robert "Butch" Mitchell & wife Jamie of Katy; daughter in law, Avis Laurie Mitchell of Dallas; brother, Eldon "Buster" Brown of Tyler; sisters, Martha Burns of Tyler, Ruby Alice Thompson of Tyler, Rosa Collins of Troup and Mary McCoy & husband Rev BC of Tyler; ten grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup, Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 6-8 pm.
