Thelma Butler

Thelma V. Butler, 96, of Star City, died February 4, 1998, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 5, 1901, in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Peter Mormon Tucker and Mollie Melton Tucker.

She was a retired seamstress and a member of South Side Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Butler, two daughters, Gracie Lee Butler and Betty Shumake; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.

Survivors include two sons, James Duel Butler of Star City and Leon Butler of Pine Bluff; three daughters, Hattie Mae McFalls and Katie Putman, both of Star City, and Mary Jones of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday at Griffin Funeral Service at Star City with Allen Hagood officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Star City.
