He was born February 19, 1938 in Sullivan County, Tenn., a son of the late James Cecil and Hattie Mae Smith Henley.
Joe lived most of his life in the Bristol area. He was self-employed as an Electrician. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Leonard Henley; children, Ken Henley and wife Dora, Mark Henley and wife Leslie, Chuck Henley and fiance Mickey Bowman, Tina Moody and husband Chris, Jennifer Reed, Penny Cunningham and fiance Chris; grandchildren, April, Aaron, Audra, Ethan, Amanda, Travis, Amber and Andy; six great grandchildren; sisters, Lilla Weston and Irene Johnson; brothers, Tom Henley and Cecil Henley.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Sunrise Cemetery with Rev. J.W. Depew officiating.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
