Leslie Rolland Duncan, 84, passed away on November 17, 2015 from natural causes.
He was born April 20, 1931 in Houston, Texas, the son of Leslie E. Duncan and Ella Mallard. He grew up on a farm in Katy, Texas and always carried fond memories of being able to run loose on the open land that was there when he was a boy.
Leslie's parents later divorced, and his dad and new wife moved the family to Louisiana. It was there that Leslie obtained most of his education. When he graduated high school, he attended BYU for a period of time, then enlisted in the United States Air Force.
His time in the Air Force took him to England and Turkey, where he served as a communications specialist. While in Europe, he traveled to France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland, where he saw many wonderful sights.
Leslie was a kind hearted soul and often would give assistance to those who asked him. He was generous to a fault. He was always a jokester and loved to tease anybody he could. Although he never married and has his own family, his nieces and nephews loved him as though he were their dad. They were often the recipients of his kindness and teasing.
He attended the Grandview Second Ward, where for many years he served as ward organist/pianist for the sacrament and priesthood meetings. He loved music and found great happiness in being able to play the piano. He would spend many hours playing on his keyboards at home.
When he moved from Houston to Salt Lake City, he was employed by Holiday Oil for many years as a store clerk.
Leslie is survived by his siblings, Lorenzo A. Merchant (West Jordan), Carolyn Nell (Virginia), David Duncan (Iowa), Robert Duncan (Texas), and Catherine Duncan Felber (Missouri). Leslie is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jesse and Stuart Duncan.
