On Aug 19,1748,Ebenezer Stone, for the sum of 700 pounds, purchased 45 acres of property in the town of Westford,Massachusetts from,John Nutting. At the time of purchase he was living in Wenham so apparently he used his place of birth of Beverly when making the purchase because the Aug 19.1748 deed aforementioned says, John Nutting of Westford to, Ebenezer Stone of Beverly.Nonetheless the date on the deed of said purchase corresponds with the location's of his children's birth places, dates and the families move from Wenham to Westford around 1748.Children born in Westford,Massachusetts were...

In about 1772 ,Ebenezer Stone of Westford,Massachusetts moved his family to a new home in Ashby,Massachusetts. On Nov 6,1771, John Fitch of Ashby,Massachusetts sold about ninety acres of land , a dwelling house, barn and other buildings to,Ebenezer Stone of Westford,Massachusetts for the sum of three hundred and seventy six pounds. The large track of property with house was in the, then, newly incorporated town of Ashby,Massachusetts. This part of Ashby was carved out of what was originally part of Townsend,Massachusetts.John Fitch,an early settler of Ashby, served as selectman of Ashby and was the town's first Moderator and Constable .As a Selectman,John was Instrumental in the incorporation of Ashby,Massachusetts made final on March 5,1767. With the aforementioned 1771,John Fitch land purchase, Ebenezer Stone had become the second largest land owner in the newly incorporated town. One of the reasons given for the formation of a new town, was the remoteness of the people from any place of public worship. When Ashby's House of Worship/ Meeting House was complete, persons of acknowledged rank and office had the first seats. Twenty five pews were assigned to the twenty-five persons whose estates stood the highest on the tax list. Of said twenty-five, Ebenezer Stone, being the second largest land owner in the town, was ranked number two in said ranking. Although completed soon after the town's inception the House of Worship/Meeting House was not fully finished until 1771.Three years later, in connection with the construction of a new road, Ebenezer Stone's Ashby Property, Home and Orchard are mentioned in the minutes of a March 1773 Ashby town meeting. Also mentioned ,in said meeting, is the Ashby property of, Ebenezer's oldest son, Waldron Stone.

In the Revolutionary War, Ebenezer served in , Col Thomas Poor's Regiment under,Captain Asa Lawrence's Company at Fort Clinton from Oct 1, 1778 thru Nov 14 1778.Pay was 2.00 per month

Two years before their youngest daughter,Sarah Stone was married, Ebenezer Stone sold their Ashby house with 100 acres of land to ,their oldest son,Waldron Stone. In selling the house and property , Ebenezer Stone, likely in failing health, was making arrangements for him living out his remaining years in his, Ashby home. This was done by, Ebenezer Stone spelling out specific conditions, in the aforementioned property sale. Quoting directly from the original property deed of May 5,1784,Ebenezer dictates to his son ,Waldron Stone those conditions: " Reserving to myself one of the south rooms in the house one third part of the cellar room + fourth part of the chamber room with liberty to go to and from the same and hence liberty to go to and from the well and use of the water during my natural life and always to be understood that I make this reserve that the lands nor buildings is not to be sold as long as I live without my consent"

Two years after transferring ownership of the house and farm to their son ,Waldron ,their youngest daughter,Sarah Stone ,in 1786,married Revolutionary War Patriot,Lieutenant Ebenezer Sanderson of Petersham, Massachusetts. Sarah and Ebenezer lived first in Westmoreland, New Hampshire then in ,Chester ,Vermont and finally settled in Franklin ,Vermont in 1792. His sons, Waldron Stone and Allen Stone eventually settled in Union, Maine. His other son, Isaiah Stone joined the ministry and lived first in Dummerston, Vermont and then in New Boston ,New Hampshire. His oldest daughter,Naomi Stone ,married, Charles Lawrence and remained in Ashby. Their second oldest daughter , Ruth Stone married, Maj Leonard Keep ,they lived first in Westmoreland, New Hampshire then Sheldon, Vermont and in 1814 settled in Franklin, Vermont. Leonard was a patriot during the revolutionary war and served in the celebrated "Green Mountain Boys" .Leonard and Ruth eventually settled in Franklin, Vermont.

On Oct 6,1789, Ebenezer Stone's son, Waldron Stone (the then current owner) of the former, "Ebenezer Stone" house and ninety acres of property, sold it to,William Green of Ashby for the sum of 180 pounds. Since, Waldron was bound by the aforementioned conditions, set by his father, that the Ashby property and house not be sold until his fathers death it is likely ,Ebenezer Stone died around 1788.This is reinforced by the fact that, Ebenezer's widowed wife, Sarah "Sally" (Crowell) Stone is recorded in the deed as "Present" when, Waldron sold his fathers former house and farm to, William Green There was no mention of ,Waldon's father, Ebenezer Stone in the Stone/Green property deed. Additional confirmation of ,Ebenezer Stones death was the sale of ,Ebenezer's Meeting House Pew by his son, Waldron Stone on Mar 25,1791.In the deed for the pew, Waldron as the grantor forfeits what was originally his father's Ashby " House of Worship/Meeting House Pew" to,Asa Shed for the sum of 8 pounds. Waldron states in the deed for the pew : "It being the pew drawn by, Ebenezer Stone" confirming his father ,Ebenezer Stone was deceased at the time of the sale.(By Stating the the pew was originally drawn by, Ebenezer Stone there would be no reason ,Waldron would be selling it unless he had gained ownership of it upon his father's death)

With the benefit of the aforementioned property deed records of ,Ebenezer Stone and his son, Waldron Stone we can now state with a high degree of probability the following. Ebenezer Stone, wife Sarah Crowell and minor children, in about 1772, moved from Westford, Massachusetts to Ashby, Massachusetts to a large 100 acre farm/orchard there. Ebenezer and wife remained living on the Ashby farm until ,Ebenezer Stone's death in about the year 1788.The earlier sources which state, Ebenezer Stone died in Westford, Massachusetts in Oct of 1807 are now very likely incorrect.
