William Agler was born in England, and was living in Pennsylvania when the Revolutionary War broke out. He served his new country for 7 years under Gen. William Henry Harrison. After he married Polly Fox, they moved to Stark County, Ohio before 1820 where they pioneered on 160 acres of government land at Wilmot in Sugar Creek Township. They lived out there lives in that country, both still living in 1840.

In 1770 Gerome was an apprentice boy learning the blacksmith trade at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. He shod horses for the Continental Army at Trenton, New Jersey in 1789. He was at Trenton at the reception of George Washingtion when he was on his way to New York to be inaugurated 1st President of the U.S. While the ladies and children strew flowers in his path, Washington told them to give their praise to their Maker. Gerome was believed to live at Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Turbot Twp. He moved to Hunterdon Northumberland and Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Gerome and Revecca were neighbors of the Indians in Lycoming County. He was Democrat, then a Whig. Gerome is the English spelling of Hironimus.
