Cindy Welch Landis, age 59, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 27, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. She was born May 30, 1955 in Muncie, the daughter of Robert and Patsy (Duffy) Welch. Cindy was a 1973 graduate of Southside High School. Cindy married her husband, Arick Landis, on Nov. 7, 2008.
Cindy worked for 30 years as a realtor with Property Hose-Real Living. Throughout her career, she was a two-time Past President of the Mid-Eastern Association of Realtors, and received Realtor of the Year and the Professional Milestone Award. Cindy was a past member of the Indiana Association of Realtors' Board of the state's Women's Realtors' Council.
Her favorite pastimes were going to the casino and taking care of people; she had a large group of family and friends that surrounded her.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Arick Landis of Gaston; father, Robert Welch of Muncie; brother, Larry Welch of Muncie; stepdaughter, Kathy Lehman (husband-Bill); three grandchildren; three special nieces, Kristen Mattingly, Jennifer Vaughn Miller, and Amanda Cloud; and a longtime best friend of 49 years, Vicky Campbell Sparks.
She was preceded in death by her mother on May 16, 2014.
A memorial service for close, personal family and friends of Cindy will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The family strongly requests memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the Cindy Welch Landis Fund at the Industrial Center Federal Credit Union, Muncie, or to the Animal Rescue Fund (A.R.F.), 1209 W. Riggin Rd., Muncie, IN 47303.
