Jo Evelyn George, 69, of Crossett died Friday, December 17, 2004, at Ashley County Medical Center. She was born in Bastrop, LA January 5, 1935, to Clintern Eldridge and Minnie Olevia Moore Kitchens and was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and worked for the Ashley County Sheriff's Department for eight years. She was an avid gardener and a lover of flowers.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, John Derrell George; one son, James Pratt of Crossett; three daughters, Debbie Orr and Lisa McCaughan, both of Crossett, and Cindy George Willis of Grenada, MS; one brother, Clintern Kitchens of Bastrop; one sister, Helen Day of Bastrop; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 19, at 2 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Taylor and Rev. James Holiness officiating. Burial was at Lick Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
