Johnnie J. (Junior) Crawford, 90, a lifetime resident of the Tobacco Valley and longtime logger, died November 17, 2015 in Eureka. He was born in Eureka May 23, 1925 to John Crawford, Sr. and Ora Clark Crawford, attending school both at Glen Lake and Eureka. He married Mildred (Millie) Slater October 15, 1947.
He worked in many phases of woodsworking including logging, driving logging truck and also operated a sawmill; he also worked in the Christmas tree business as well. He also owned and operated a ranch for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, most especially hunting, and throughout the years enjoyed the family’s property on Glen Lake.
Preceding him in death were his wife; a brother, Earl, and his parents John and Ora.
He is survived by his children, John Crawford and Robert Crawford and wife Cindy, all of Eureka; Susan Crawford Hickey of Sparwood, BC; his brother-in-law James Slater and wife Irene, also of Eureka; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are Tuesday (Nov. 24) at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with committal services following at Tobacco Valley Cemetery.
