Kenton Kincaid "K.K." Simmons, 64, of Monterey, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at his residenceHe was born May 12, 1939 at Blue Grass, a son of the late Luther C. and Willie Pence Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a member of the Blue Grass United Methodist Church and was a past president of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was a self-employed contractor. He worked for 17 years in Northern Virginia for Gregory Construction as a superintendent and retired from Rexrode Masonry in Monterey. He was an avid outdoorsman. On Nov. 30, 1963, he married Shirley June Newcomb Ferrell, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy S. Swecker. He is survived by a beloved step-son, Howard Don Ferrell of Monterey; a sister, Charlotte S. Schooler of Blue Grass; three brothers, Luther C. Simmon,s Jr. of Blue Grass; E. Douglas Simmons of Stuarts Draft and Carl L. Simmons of Blue Grass and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Blue Grass United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard S. Gibson, Rev. Jack Schooler and The Rev. Andre Crummett. Burial was in Blue Grass Cemetery.
