Kenneth Edward Saxon

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

Kenneth E. Saxon, of Brookville, Indiana, was born on June 3, 1946 in Rushville, Indiana to Herbert L. and Lillie Shuman Saxon. He graduated from Ball State University earning Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees, and later added an Education Specialist Degree. Ken married ... on December 28, 1968 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Muncie. Ken enjoyed a long and distinguished career in education. He was honored by the state of Indiana as the Secondary Schools' Administrators Assistant Principal of the Year, and was acknowledged in the Laurel High School 1982 Yearbook Dedication. He was also a member of the Indiana Principals' Leadership Academy.

One of his family's most treasured possessions is a memoir book that Ken wrote for his grandchildren entitled "THAT GRANDPA!" The introduction reads: "During most of my adult life I was involved as an educator. I was a teacher, a coach, a bus driver, an athletic director, an assistant principal, a principal (three times in three different schools) and an assistant superintendent for business and transportation. Of all the jobs I had I loved teaching the most. I taught about history and government. In my history classes I told my students that they should make tape recordings of their parents and grandparents talking about their lives and their life experiences. It's important for kids to know about their families. After recalling what I told my students I decided to write a series of stories to you so that you could know about some of the special memories I have. I hope you enjoy learning about 'THAT GRANDPA!'"

Along with spending time with his beloved wife and family, Ken enjoyed collecting political memorabilia with a partiality for Wendell Willkie items. He was also fond of bird watching and provided bird houses for purple martins. He spent some of his spare time maintaining Ford 8N and 9N tractors. At the age of 69, Ken passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015, at his residence in the presence of his wife and children.

Those surviving who will cherish Ken's memory include his loving wife of almost 47 years, ...; son, ...; daughter, ...; grandchildren, ..., and brothers and sisters, ... . He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, with Rosary beginning at 3:15. A Mass of Christian burial, officiated by the Very Rev. Sean Danda, will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
